How To Use Buffer To Promote Your Blog Posts/ Website?

How To Use Buffer To Promote Your Blog Posts/ Website?
Though most of us are well aware of the importance of sharing our content on various social media sites, not many of us know how to get the best mileage out of our presence across these platforms.
We all know very well that sharing our content repeatedly (without spamming, of course) on various social networks can help you get sizable referral traffic, most of us don’t know how to go about their social media campaigns.
To get a good flow of traffic from social media (and that too consistently), you have to share your posts across these sites repeatedly (though there is much more to it).
I suggest reading one of the previous articles to know the importance of using social media which also has a brilliant infographic:
Only recently, I spent a few sleepless nights as the rankings of some of my best keywords went down due to some new Google algorithms and there was a substantial loss of daily visitors I was getting to my blog. It was then that one of my blogger friends told me how he was unperturbed by the various Panda, Penguin, etc updates because he gets most of his traffic from social media sites!!
Now, while that sounded super cool, I didn’t know how to go about and get lots of hits from social media sites.

What is Buffer?

Buffer is an awesome social media management tool which can help you schedule the timing of sharing your posts on five networks namely Google+, Facebook, Twitter, App.Net and LinkedIn.
Many fellow bloggers tell me that one of the best ways of getting traffic from social media sites is by sharing posts across them between 11pm  and 1am every night by MY time.
But what if I sleep by 10 every night?
Should I stay awake till wee hours of the morning and upset my schedule totally?
Worse still, HOW THE HELL will I work if I am constantly worried about sharing my posts at various sites a number of times each and every day?
Why shouldn’t I focus more on what I do best, while someone else takes care of sharing my content across these sites for me at various times of the day?
And keeps on doing it fastidiously whether or not I am online?
When I am traveling.
When I am sick.
Even when I am sleeping.
Does that seem like wishful thinking?
Or, do you think it will involve hiring social media experts who will charge you a bomb for rendering you those services?
Here is this fantabulous tool called Buffer which allows you to schedule your post across five platforms namely Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and App.net at various times of the day as pre-decided by YOU!!!!
Follow the steps mentioned below to use Buffer to promote your blog posts/ website.

How To Use Buffer To Promote Your Blog Posts/ Website?

Follow the steps mentioned below
  • Click on this link here to login to Buffer.

  • Before you create your account here, scroll down to the bottom of the page to add this app to your browser for using more conveniently later. Here you can see the various browser options:

I use Firefox most of the time. So, I am choosing Firefox. You can choose Google Chrome orSafari, depending upon what browser you use.
  •   Now, create yourself a buffer account by manually filling the form or signing in with yourFacebook, Twitter or LinkedIn profiles. As you click on “Schedule”, you are asked to schedule the time(s) for sharing your posts for the coming week.
  • You can even choose the Time zone you are in and schedule your posts accordingly, as you can see below:

  • After choosing your time zone, you are allowed to share your posts any number of times a day at the time of YOUR choice across any of the networks chosen by you for the entire coming week.
  • Go to the top left hand corner of the page and add your link there, along with a brief description of what you are writing about.

  • Buffer Analytics: One of the best features about Buffer app is the Analytics section which allows you to know how much you are benefiting by scheduling your posts here.

Tips for Using Buffer Better

  • Since you have already added a Buffer extension on your browser, you need not sign in to this app each time you want to share a post and schedule it for sharing it at your chosen platforms later.
All you need to do is sign in to your blog or website. Go to the page or post you want to share and right click on your mouse.
As you click on “Buffer your post”, you see this box open at the bottom of the page.

Add your post here and schedule it.
  • As you might have seen, the default settings use the buff.ly url shortener. Since buff.ly is likely to baffle your followers/ contacts across the sites mentioned above, you might as well use another url shortener like goo.gl or bit.ly.
  • You can even add a Buffer sharing button to your website or blog to make sharing even easier for you as well as for others who might land there.
Now, your posts will be promoted across all these five networks (whichever you choose to link to your Buffer account) at the times scheduled by you whether you are online or not.
You can work, travel, rest in your bed, play games or laze around without having to worry about the promotion of your posts.
Isn’t that simply too irresistible?
As if that wasn’t enough, you can upgrade to AWESOME plan which gives you many added advantages over a regular free account for only $10 a month.
Conclusion
I got to know about this wonderful tool only recently and I started using it only a week back. One of my old posts which I shared here received more than 10 tweets and 6 Facebook Likes in the last two days without me having to spam the networks time and again.
Unfortunately for us bloggers and website owners, Buffer allows sharing only on the five networks mentioned here earlier also- Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and App.net at present.
We hope to extend these services to other popular sites like Pinterest, StumbleUpon and Redditsoon as well.
Do you like the idea of using Buffer to promote your blog, posts or website?

Top Reasons Your Visitors Aren't Converting into Business

Any marketer doing business online nowadays will tell you that getting traffic to your site is really important if you hope to do business. What’s the point of having a great site if no-one is going to see it? Getting traffic is only half the journey though.  Once visitors arrive at your site, are they doing what you want them to do? Whether your aim is to make  sale or get a lead, you should be paying close attention to what happens to your traffic once it arrives at your site.

Generally, traffic conversion rates hover at between 1-2%. That means that for every 100 visitors you get, 1 or 2 are following through. It is also likely that once someone has bought from you, or signed up to your list, they will return. According to the 80/20 rule, the top 20% of your customers will provide 80% of your revenue.

The main reason why people click away from a site they land on is if they find it confusing, or if it has nothing to do with what they are looking for. It may be tempting to fill a landing page with links, bright colors and flashing images but this can be a turn off for visitors seeking a quick solution to their ‘problem’. Also, if your visitor arrived at your page expecting information about movie reviews but  just found movies for sale, then he is going to be disappointed. You’re also  unlikely to win over a customer by trying to shove a product down their throat without answering their questions first, addressing their doubts, giving advice and building rapport and trust.

Building up a good conversion rate depends on having great:

On Page Copy

Keyword stuffing and unnatural sounding language on your page will not instill confidence in your site and get you customers. Your copy needs to be interesting, informative, include an appropriate amount of keywords and address the visitor’s problem or question. Your traffic should be arriving
on your page after using an appropriate keyword for that page and finding there what they expect. If they arrive there thinking ‘barbecue’ and find ‘patio furniture’ then they are going to click away without buying. Think about the visitor to the site: What is he looking for? Am I providing the answer?

SEO

Having good on-page and off-page SEO in place will help to drive the right traffic to your site. Tags, keywords, coding, links, site navigation and other factors can all influence your conversion rate. You need to help the search engines correctly determine what your site is about.

Pay Per Click Campaign

If your budget allows for paid advertising, you probably pay to advertise on Google, Yahoo or Bing. Since you pay for every click that your visitors make to arrive at your site, it is very important that you make your money back when they reach the site.  This is called your Return On Investment or ROI. A misleading ad defeats this purpose.Your success in PPC can depend on the text of the ad, the size, the location and the amount of competition.

The most important thing is to measure your performance. Always track what you are doing and measure results. Tweak as you go along and see what happens. Do not change too many things at once or you will not know what  worked better. Changing a few words or the color can have a major effect. Learn from your mistakes and continue to educate yourself online. Read up on new developments and watch your competition. You can learn a lot from them too.

Landing Page Design

Visitors need to find a pleasant page that’s well written, easy on the eye, easy to navigate and get to the page where you want them to sign up or make the purchase. It is worth spending some money on getting a professional looking landing page and getting some help if all the tasks seem a bit overwhelming to you. You may find it hard to be a master copywriter, SEO expert, design genius and whizz marketer all rolled into one! Many give up on maintaining or building their site simply because they are trying to do it all or because they are waiting to master everything before starting.

To summarize, then,  for optimal conversion rates you are seeking to direct quality traffic (visitors seeking what you are offering) to your site (which should be user-friendly and sticky) to find the answers to their questions and the right product to help them.

Problem -> Solution = Sale/Signup
Question -> Answer = Sale/Signup

Effective Ways to Reduce Bounce Rate

If you’ve been spending tons on ads and SEO tactics, then you’ll want to see results. While you can’t expect miracles to happen overnight on the web, you need to ensure that your website is not encountering a high bounce rate.

What's That?

For those who have no idea what that means, here’s a simple definition. The bounce rate is the percentage of online users that visit one page of your site but don’t feel the urge to browse any further. This could be highly detrimental to your online presence, and you need to figure out why people don’t feel like checking out your website.

If you’re set up with Google Analytics, then you will be able to keep a close tab on your bounce rate. Here’s how Google calculates that ever important percentage:

“Your Bounce Rate is the number of visits that involved one page only divided by the total number of page visits.”

The average website enjoys a little above 60% in new visits with visitors spending an average time of about 190.4 seconds on site. This means that you need to have relevant landing pages that help keep that bounce rate at a respectable level.

A few effective tips to help you as you go about that.

Placing Your Ads Right

Let’s face it; a large chunk of websites wouldn’t be able to stay online if it weren’t for advertisements. However, filling up your pages with ads can be extremely frustrating and irritating for a viewer.

He/she might click on an ad by mistake and be led away to a page that has no connection with what he/she is searching for. This shows your website in poor light and your bounce rate will go through the roof.

Design your page in such a way that the ads are prominent enough but not in the way of site navigation. Also ensure you have ads that are connected to the content on your site. This will help reduce the bounce rate considerably.

Keep It Right

So your favorite color is grey and you figured why not use it on your website? Well, that’s great if you have a bright background. There are a number of sites that use such dull colors that it becomes a challenge simply to read content headings itself.

Nowadays, a large number of people browse the web from their mobile devices- smartphones, tablets, etc. This implies that your site is going to be scaled down to a variety of screen resolutions and sizes.
Make sure your contrast is at a high enough level that it makes your content easily readable on all screens. A great way to reduce high bounce rates.

Navigation Issues

How many times have you come across a site that makes you go through a treasure hunt before you can find the right piece of content? This is one of the main reasons why bounce rates are so high on websites that have poor navigation.

The visitor is looking for a clean interface that is easy to use. A few clicks should get him/her to the page the individual wants to check out. This is not always the case and visitors are left puzzled and decide to leave.

Keep your site navigation as simple as possible. If you have a lot of content, make sure it is well organized and easily searchable. Create a site map; this could really make a huge difference. Bounce rates are bound to drop if you clean up your navigation problems.

Get The Points Fast

There are millions of websites out there, many of which will have similar content to yours. How do you ensure that your visitors stay longer than the usual one-page visit?

It’s all about telling them what they want to know within a short span of time. Grab their attention with a short and sweet message of what you’re offering. This will go a long way in keeping them on your site for a longer period of time.

These tips might not seem like major changes, but together they can make a huge difference to your site’s bounce rate. Start by working on the pages that receive a higher bounce rate than the others.
