Many new twitter users do not know what is a retweet and how to retweet.
Need not worry about it anymore!
We are here with our Twitter help section which will help you answer this question and tell you a lot more about this popular social networking site- things you have always wanted to know!
Let us first begin with telling our readers what is a retweet.
What is a Retweet?
A retweet is simply a rebroadcast of someone else’s tweet or message across twitter.
When you retweet, you share someone else’s tweet with YOUR followers as well!
Why should I retweet, you might want to know?
People use Twitter for a variety of reasons. There are some who use it simply to be able to stay in touch with friends, relatives and acquaintances.
There are others who use it for promoting their business interests. Internet marketers, web strategists, affiliate marketing experts and bloggers use it for sharing their links with people who share common interests.
Whatever your reason for using Twitter, if you come across something particularly useful and/or interesting while you are online, there is no reason not to share the same with people you know.
You might be following a couple of health bloggers. And if you come across a brilliant piece of information, you could share it with your twitter followers.
I, for instance, follow a lot of health bloggers and read this tweet about organic food which I would like to share with my followers. No selfish interests for doing so- simply wanted to share the useful information with my friends!
As a blogger or website owner, you might want to share a fellow blogger’s link as well.
Now, I saw my friend and brother Atish Ranjan tweet this:
I might want to share this.
You might even want to retweet about a great product available in the market or a service.
All you need to retweet is add an RT (short for Retweet- use this short form if your message is already long) or the word RETWEET to the beginning of your message.
Retweeting someone else’s message is the highest form of endorsement and is unlikely to go unnoticed!
One good turn, as the adage goes, deserves another.
Similarly, a twitter retweet deserves to be paid back!
If you share your friend’s message or link with your followers today, he is likely to do the same for you later. That can help you get a wider audience for your tweets.
And, who knows- if you are lucky, you might even be able to win over a few loyal twitter followers when your friend retweets your tweet?
Now that you know what is retweet and why you should retweet, we will get back to you soon with another related post which will tell you how to retweet with comment.
We will also share with our readers a lot more about auto retweet and retweet rank soon! If you like our new section on Twitter help, do write to us!
