Inspite of the availability of numerous mobile tracking apps, anyone of us who has (unfortunately) ever lost a cell phone will know how painfully difficult it is to trace or locate one.
With a view to making things easier for users, Google announced a service to locate a misplaced or lost android mobile this Friday.
I am sure this has all android users excited!
And why not! Since it has the Google stamp on it, it’s gotta be good.
And the best part is that you don’t have to wait for ages for this wonderful service. You might be able to avail of it within a month!
Android Device Manager by Google- Features and Launch Date
All android cell phones running on Android 2.2 or higher versions will be able to avail of this service called the Android Device manager.
And the best thing is that the application will be totally FREE!!!!
Apple has been providing similar services to help locate lost iPhones and Microsoft for locating Windows based handsets already. As per an official declaration on Google’s blog, this device promises the safety of the device and the data/ information saved therein.
Not only will this application make it easier or you to locate a stolen device but also make it much easier for you to locate it if you accidentally kept it in between some cushions on a silent mode and cant trace it. I have been through it lots of times and know how those 2 minutes between misplacing the set and finding it back are enough to give anyone a mini heart attack of sorts!
It will ring at the loudest volume even if you have placed it on the silent mode, thus helping you trace the device if it has slid under a sofa or between the seats of the car.
If you are signed in to your Google account and the Android Device Manager applications is running on your phone, you can see your handset on a map by following it in real time.
Though Benjamin Poeisz mentioned on the Google blog specifically that the application will be available only later this month, some users say they can see the service rolling out on their play store already.
This morning, users started reporting that the service was rolling out to their devices already. Indeed, Android Device Manager is getting introduced by way of Google Play Services version 3.2.25, but it’s not complete just yet. (Source: AndroidPolice)
Go to Settings –> Security->Device Administrators.

I cannot see it on my device yet but Reddit has been so full of people claiming to have it on their devices already!
Even if I am not one of the luckier ones to get immediate access to this, I am sure this feature will prove to be big blessing for forgetful blokes like me who misplace their cell phone at least 6-8 times during the course of a day!
I earnestly suggest Google to come up with a feature that will help me track my misplaced cupboard and room keys. I lose them oh-too-frequently and just can’t seem to do anything about it, inspite of going out-of-the-way to make sure I don’t lose them.
Any chances of getting that REVOLUTIONARY and life saving app for me?
